Battlemesh v18: travel, pickups, packing list & social event
Hello everyone,
Battlemesh v18 is almost here: Monday 7 – Sunday 13 September 2026 at Pueblo Escondido in Gornji Karin, Croatia.
A few practical notes before you travel — please read and act on the parts that apply to you.
1. Getting there
Please read the travel page, including last-mile options from Zadar and Gornji Karin to the venue.
Public bus hours from Zadar to Gornji Karin and vice versa (Departure hour from Karin is for the Gornji Karin 1 bus stop): https://liburnija-zadar.hr/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/KARIN.pdf
Venue: OPG Pueblo Escondido, Lončari 1, 23452 Gornji Karin, Croatia
GPS: 44.141715, 15.665045
2. Coming by car?
If you are arriving by car, please note that on the participants list. We need to know how many cars we have for excursions and local transport.
3. Who needs a pickup from Zadar — and when?
If you need a pickup from Zadar airport or the bus station, please say so in the Matrix room: your name, arrival date and time, and whether it is the airport or the bus station.
We will coordinate rides from there. The earlier you write, the easier it is to match people.
4. Weather
It is going to be hot, especially at the start of the week. The current forecast for Gornji Karin (as of 1 September):
Monday–Wednesday: mostly sunny, around 30–33 °C during the day, nights around 19–21 °C. UV index around 6 — sun protection is essential.
Thursday–Friday: cooler, with a chance of thunderstorms and rain; daytime temperatures may drop towards 20 °C.
Weekend: cooler and drier again, around 20–23 °C by day, nights down to about 10–13 °C.
Please pack for both: strong sun at the beginning, and a light layer plus rain protection for later in the week. Forecasts change, so check again before you travel.
See also Weather Conditions.
5. Packing list
Please bring, if you can:
- laptop
- Wi-Fi router (for the mesh testbed, if you have one)
- Ethernet cable(s)
- power supplies / chargers
- power banks / solar panels
- extension cord and a 3-way power strip
- t-shirt or other garment you want to print our logo on
- water bottle
- hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
- light clothing for hot days, plus a layer and rain protection for cooler or wet weather
Croatia uses Type C/F plugs (230 V), same as most of Europe.
6. Social event
We are planning a social outing during the week (Tesla Museum and Benkovac Fair), likely Wednesday or Thursday.
Note: Part of Benkovac Fair is a traditional livestock market. Live animals (pigs, sheep, goats, poultry and others) are sold there and taken away by buyers. The livestock area is rustic and can be loud; if that is not for you, you can skip that part and still join the rest of the fair and the outing.
Details and the date will go on the wiki: Social Events
See you in Karin!
